Frequently asked questions
How do you add color to a black and white photo?
Upload it above. The AI recognizes what is in the picture - skin, hair, clothing, foliage, sky - and applies color that fits both the objects and the era. You see the result in about a minute.
Are AI colorized photos accurate?
Colors are plausible rather than guaranteed: the AI cannot know the true color of a dress from a black and white negative. It chooses natural, era-appropriate tones. That is why the preview sits next to your original - you judge whether it feels right.
Can I colorize a photo but keep a black and white copy?
Yes. Run the photo once with Add color switched off to keep a clean black and white version, and once with it on for the colour copy - each run shows a free preview first.
Is colorizing black and white photos free?
The preview is free. The HD download costs 1 credit flat, no matter which switches you use.
